Tucked into the rolling countryside of Grey County, Brookdale Farm is a rare find — a working historic farmstead where guests are invited to breathe differently. Step off the porch and the pool glints through the trees. Walk further and a winding stream edges the far fields, blue herons drifting at dusk.
This is not a hotel. It is a proper farm — with a proper farmhouse, a red barn with string lights, Adirondack chairs set out by the water, and the particular quiet that only a hundred acres makes.

Our Story
Rooted in this land
Brookdale Farm has stood in Maxwell, Grey County for generations. The original farmhouse carries the quiet dignity of old Ontario — thick walls, windows that frame countryside the way paintings try to, and a red door that has welcomed people home for over a century.
Across a hundred acres of field and forest, the barn stands open with its timber frame and string lights — a gathering place as much as anything else. The stream has always been here. The herons found it long before us. We're simply grateful to share it all.
"Come as a guest. Leave as someone who has exhaled."

The Barn
A century-old gathering place
The original timber-frame barn — renovated into a rec room, living space, and sleeping quarters, all with that unmistakable warmth of old wood and string lights.
We've spent years in this corner of Grey County and have favourite spots around every bend. This is our honest, lovingly curated list — the places we'd send our own family to.
Grey County is Ontario's apple country. In late summer and fall, roadside stands and u-pick orchards appear around every bend.
August – October
Waterfall Season
Grey County's waterfalls are most dramatic in April, May, and early June when snowmelt has them roaring. Eugenia and Hogg's Falls are unmissable.

Fall Colour Drives
The Beaver Valley in October is one of the most spectacular autumn colour scenes in the province. Old Baldy on a clear October morning is unforgettable.

Autumn Salmon Run
Every fall, salmon run from Georgian Bay up the local rivers — a remarkable thing to witness. Ask us which creeks are running best that year.

Stargazing at the Farm
Maxwell's dark skies are extraordinary. Grab a blanket, walk into the field, and look up. That's all there is to it.
